SPOILER: There is No Mr. Perfect but There Can Be Mr. Right

Finding Mr. Perfect is that thought, that nag’s the back of your mind. It’s that date after date failed relationship after a failed relationship of never getting it right. It’s so easy to consume this romanticized idea of finding your perfect person. The weight of this can bring you down and can damage your dating life and relationships. But it doesn’t have to!

Here are 5 Ways to Find Mr. Right:

1. Let go of “Perfect”

Where is my Mr. Perfect? The reality is that there is no finding Mr. Perfect. When you search for this perfect guy you are looking for dead-end relationships. It’s sorta like that saying money doesn’t buy you happiness. Well, the same goes for the guy you’re dating.

The perfect person doesn’t buy your relationship happiness.

Placing the emphasis on “perfect” creates unrealistic expectations, disappointment, and heartbreak. With all the day to day stress in our everyday lives, nobody’s got time for that.

2. Find Your Purpose for Dating

Whether single, dating or in a relationship find a sense of purpose within. Ever wonder why you attract the same type of guy? If you don’t pause to find purpose then you will never know what type of partner you want. I always say to my clients, “the relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for every relationship in your life.” It can be hard and confusing to take in that we have a responsibility for our part in relationships. Ultimately, this will help you find purpose in dating and relationships.

3. Stop Comparing Your Love Life to Others

It’s natural to turn to your girlfriends to compare dating and relationship stories. We want to make sure we are doing it “right”. Spoiler alert! There is no right way to do it and not one person has it down perfect. The comparison is only fuel for an inner fire; so don’t give yourself a fire to put out. The way other relationships look on the outside could be a totally different narrative on the inside. It is best to focus on yourself and what you want in your ideal man.

4. Create a List of Dating & Relationship Values

The single most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself. This is how you create healthy boundaries and values for a partner. Make a list of your top dating and relationship values. Make sure to keep it on hand. It is a great way to check in with yourself while dating. When you can align your values in relationships, you are on our way to finding the perfectly imperfect Mr. Perfect.

5. Be Easy on Yourself

Healthy relationships take time and effort. You may come up with trial and error, but knowing what you want in Mr. Perfect will help you see the clear picture of it all. Keep in mind that you are not perfect and never will be. Ugh, such is life, I know. The good news is that dating and relationships are a forever growing process.

Embrace the opportunity ahead of you to learn more about yourself and what it is you truly want, in this Mr. imperfectly perfect guy.
